Statement Photos

Photos by Titus Bartos

We love these photos from Barbara and Anthony Tierno's May 24 Cedarwood wedding.

Captured by Titus Bartos of Made in Murfreesboro Photography Studio, these images are unexpected, fresh and real. They tell the truth of the moment, and to us they stand out as shining statements of photographic excellence.

It's impossible not to smile at these kiddos doing what kids naturally do!

The drama of this next photo is what we love. Titus shot inside the Cedarwood barn and got this amazing photo of the guys with artful light and bold attitude!

Thanks Barbara and Anthony for sharing your special day with Cedarwood. Titus, we hope to see you back again!

Orange Unique

Photos by Titus Bartos

Did you know that orange is a word in the English language that has nothing to perfectly rhyme with it? Cedarwood's May 24 wedding of Barbara Beauchene and Anthony Tierno was orange unique, because it was orange and because it was delightfully one of a kind.

There's also a beautiful rose called "Orange Unique" and according to rose growers, the orange rose represents desire, enthusiasm and passion. Perfect for Barbara's bouquet and perfect as a marriage symbol for this wonderful couple! Surrounded by their upbeat wedding party and family, Barbara and Anthony made their minds up that nothing could dampen their wedding day enthusiasm. Especially the weather.

Remember the amazing photo in our June 11 blog post of rain pouring on their ceremony site, captured by Titus Bartos of Made in Murfreesboro Photography Studio? The ten minute soaking couldn't shake this couple, and the rain passed so their beautiful garden wedding could go on without a hitch!

The orange and white theme of the wedding actually did grow out of this couple's love story. Barbara and Anthony met while attending the University of Tennessee, affectionately known as Big Orange. Barbara also happens to love the color and her selection of tangerine satin bridesmaids' dresses make such a statement!

The "T" monogram on the cake, however, is for Tierno, not Tennessee!

You probably guessed that Tierno is an Italian name, and just look at this display of home made Italian pastries for the groom's dessert table!

Orange and white decor worked wonderfully. Using all white linens for the reception tables allowed the flowers to show off.

We're a sucker for first dances, and this shot of Barbara and Anthony is so sweet. Later, Barbara gets down to live entertainment by Scott Peterson and The High Life Band. It was a fun party!

We have a few more photos to share from this wedding, so stay tuned!

Share Your Engagement Photo

Heather Payne and Thomas Smith are getting married at Cedarwood on Oct. 31. Yes, it's also Halloween, but this celebration will be way more cool.

Heather and Tommy aren't really into the spooky party scene so they grabbed this prime Saturday date for their wedding. They do have a few classy surprises for guests and we'll blog about all the fun details of their wedding this fall.

We love this great engagement shot by Ace Photography!
Heather, we love the boots and the attitude!

Cedarwood couples are invited to send us engagement photos for our blog! It's a great way to build excitement for the big day!

Country Fairest

Photos by Ace Photography

Becky Sullivan and John Burchett are such a delightfully beautiful and upbeat couple. We enjoyed interacting with Becky and John for a year and a half planning their June 13 Cedarwood wedding, and not once did they hint about their amazing talents.

So... when John, and then Becky, stepped on stage for a cameo performance during one of the most exciting receptions ever, we were blown away!

Never mind that the CMA Festival was in high gear a few miles away; every guest at Cedarwood enjoyed a night of fine country music entertainment! It's been a while since we've had a live country music band perform here and we really had a ball with some seriously talented musicians, including Steel Guitarist Rusty Danmyer who's logged credits on many projects with artists like Lee Ann Womack, Martina McBride and Dierks Bentley.

What we love about Becky and John's wedding is the junxaposition of summer romance, relaxed elegance, southern hospitality and the fairest of county culture. This was a wedding where family reunited and children (most who were in the wedding party!) laughed, romped and played, reminding us that country weddings are first and foremost about family and celebration.

Tablescapes of fine linens, graceful flowers and romantic candlelight were happy hosts of bountiful regional cuisine. Guests enjoyed A Taste of the South by Chef Christopher's Catering including their amazingly delicious smoked pork and barbecue chicken with all the fixins. No one went home hungry!

Ace Photography was on hand to document the beauty and fun, so we'll let their wedding photos do some talking!

It was fun to learn that John's family hails from Prestonsburg, Kentucky, located on the Country Music Highway of eastern Kentucky. This hotbed region of music talent has been home to over a dozen well-known country music stars, including Naomi Judd, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ricky Skaggs, Keith Whitley, Dwight Yoakam, Patty Loveless and Loretta Lynn. The area also holds family roots of our own maternal heritage.

John and Becky, thanks for choosing Cedarwood. Your wedding was a real treat for all of us. Congratulations on your marriage, and never stop singing!

Get Down Party Coming Up

Above: Tyrone Smith ("Super T") of the Tyrone Smith Review

Spoiler Alert:

We're gearing up for some great entertainment this Saturday for the wedding of Dana Holmer and Tad Miller at Cedarwood on June 27.

Dana and Tad have planned the most incredible event, complete with two live bands, including 'party band' Super T and the Tyrone Smith Review. It doesn't matter what name you use, this is a major dance & show band playing the range from classic rock to funky soul.

We met with Tyrone Smith at Cedarwood recently and we can't wait to see his renown "Super T" show Saturday night.

Besides Cedarwood (insert smiley face here), Tyrone Smith has played some pretty incredible venues and events, like the Obama Inaugural at the White House, and Jenna Bush's wedding last May at the Bush family ranch in Crawford, Texas!

About the Bush-Hager wedding, NEWSWEEK reported,
"The more than 200 family and friends were entertained by the Tyrone Smith Revue, a 10-piece party band from Nashville, Tenn. The musicians gave the newlyweds what Smith described as a "get down" party."
We're ready!

Design We Love

Design by Karen Wright of Cedarwood

Cedarwood is half wedding venue and half wedding design. When you select Cedarwood for your wedding, you are getting a beautiful historic farm estate with a top shelf team of designers. Cedarwood's Karen Wright has racked up quite a few honors in her life long career as a wedding florist!

With this blog post we are introducing a series called "Design We Love" to offer frequent suggestions and inspiration to brides in the process of planning their own unique celebration. Posts will be a combination of style elements from our own design studio, Real Cedarwood Weddings, and from sources we admire.

To kick off these posts, we want to say how crazy we are about terrarium arrangements and centerpieces.

They are earthy, low cost (for the most part), and great for green weddings. When in clusters of beautiful glassware, they add drama to your table.

Grouping is the key. By adding various sizes you can visually balance tables and use materials that compliment each other and the color pallet. The possibilities are endless!

Enjoy the heat wave. Summer is here.
